2. wmTIP: NEED A SPIRITUAL CHECK-UP?

As women leaders, it is easy to try to cure the spiritual
needs of everyone else, but neglect our own spiritual
needs. Our personal walk with Christ should be our first
priority - if we are not learning as we go, we will
have nothing left to teach. Charles Stanley gives some
advice for all Christians who need a spiritual check-up.
If you can say yes to each question, then you are on the
right track. If not, keep striving!

Ten Ways to Measure Your Spiritual Growth
1.Do you have a hunger to know God and His
truth on an intimate level?
2.Do you have an increasing awareness of sin?
3.Do you seek sincere repentance and the desire
to become more Christ-like?
4.Do you view spiritual battles--trials, temptation,
and failures as avenues of growth instead of obstacles?
5.Do you have a desire to be used by God in the
lives of others?
6.Do you have a desire for godly obedience and
commitment regardless of the personal cost?
7.Do you have an increasing faith?
8.Do you have a hunger for private devotion
and prayer?
9.Do you have a desire to please God by making
decisions based on His will and not on personal wants?
10.Do you have a vibrant love for God and an
awareness of His presence?
All of these factors indicate spiritual growth.

>From "Away to Arabia" by Charles Stanley.

6. wmIDEA: ELECTRONIC BIBLE STUDY
Deb Douglas of Little Rock, AR shares a creative idea
for maintaining a Christ-centered friendship through
an electronic Bible study.

This is an idea that came out of my desire to
give the perfect Christmas gift to a special
friend in another state. The friend was having
difficulty finding a Bible study group, so I
decided to give her an electronic Bible Study,
and it's working Great!!! In fact, many women
who have heard about it, are now doing the
same thing. It's a great way for long distance
friends to stay in touch and bonded together
in study of God's Word.  Here's how we
began: I purchased 2 copies of "Whispers
of Hope" by Beth Moore, sending one copy
to the out-of-state friend. We choose a day
to begin, and a plan that worked for both of
us. We read the daily material and scriptures.
Then, send an e-mail with our thoughts and
what we have learned. It is awesome! We
have become closer in our friendship as we
have studied prayer. We feel more open and
honest to share. It's much easier to type from
the heart than it is to speak from the heart for
many women.  We are already seeing answers
to our prayers, and growth in our desire to be
on our knees.  I pray that other women will be
able to benefit from this electronic Bible study idea.

7. wmLIBRARY: Two Resources from Lifeway
Two great resources for your women's ministry
library.

Life Lessons from Women in the Bible
Whether wives, working women, mothers,
or leaders, the women in the Bible represent
a rich heritage of faith and service. Life Lessons
from Women in the Bible is a fascinating look
at the lives of more than 30 different women in
the Bible. Each day includes inspiration and the
moving story of a  variety of Bible women including:
Abigail, Sarah, Rebekah, Eve, Hannah, Miriam,
Deborah, Tamar, Mary Magdalene, Lydia, Priscilla,
and many more.  Includes leader helps for
facilitating small-group discussion.

In My Father's House: Women Relating to God as Father
by Mary Kassian
Explores how a woman’s image of God the Father is
often based on her experiences (or lack of experiences)
with her earthly father. In My Father’s House examines these attitudes
and experiences with a woman’s earthly father in light of what
the Word says about the fatherhood of God.  Six-week study includes leader
helps.
