1. FROM THE PUBLISHER
At about 3:00 yesterday, I caught myself
in the midst of a feeding frenzy.  Almost every
woman reading this might as well admit
you know what this is.  It begins with one Oreo,
then two. . . after about six, I move to the
Cheetos that I bought for my son’s lunch.
Add a few Junior Mints and chase it all down
with a root beer- the feeding frenzy is complete!
This is not one of my spirit-controlled habits!
This is a flesh driven, craving controlled habit
which needs to be bridled and controlled by the
Holy Spirit.  In order to be controlled by the
Spirit, though, I must yield, halt, screech my
brakes, and ask God to help me in the midst
of my frenzy.
He reminded me of the verse, “I will bless the Lord
at all times, His praise shall continually be in my
mouth.”  It is very difficult for His praise to be in my
mouth when it is so preoccupied by the crunch of a
Cheeto and the fabulous flavor of a root beer.
The next time I gear up for my marathon eating
experience, I plan to yield my cravings to Him
and let his praise be in my mouth - not just a lot
of useless sugar and fat.
He deserves my best even in the kitchen and at
3:00pm.  Don’t by any means think I am swearing
off of these fun and wonderful snacks.  I just want
to keep it balanced.  Encourage each other as
women, to have Spirit controlled habits and to
let His praise be ever on our lips!

2.wmILLUSTRATION: Honesty
A woman was writing a check at a lawn-and-garden store, and she
pulled out his driver’s license for identification. "Don’t need it," the
proprietor said. "In all my years of business, nobody ever wrote
me a bad check when they were buying something to work with."

3. wmTHOUGHT: How to Know God’s Voice
As Women’s Ministry Leaders, it is very important to
be in tune with God’s will in our own lives, as well as
within the group you are leading. Often, in searching
for God’s will, other voices creep in and we are unable
to discern whether that voice was God’s, or coming
from some other source, like ourselves or Satan.
However, God has certain qualities that we can learn
to help us rest assured that we know it is His voice.

1. God’s Voice is Constant.
If we ever have to wonder whether the voice was God’s
or not, just look at how persistent the voice has been.
If God wants you to do something, then He is not
going to change his mind the next day. If you hear
conflicting voices, wait it out until God’s persistent voice
prevails.

2. God’s Voice is Calm.
Many of our impulses come as urgent. “Do it now, before
it’s too late!” it says. Also, we sometimes get a case of
the “shoulds” or “woulds.” These shoulds and woulds
appear as good things God may want us to do, like
“I should teach that Sunday School class,”etc. When you
respond to God’s nudges, you find that all your shoulds
and woulds are simply busy-work and have no eternal
value. Listen only to the calm urges that come from God.

3. God’s Voice Convicts Me--Satan’s Voice
Condemns Me.
Satan’s voice only sends feelings of guilt, condem-
nation, doubt, and disapproval. You know it is God’s
voice if He is gently convicting you to run to His arms
of forgiveness. Consider how the voice makes you feel;
this will determine which voice it is.

4. God’s Voice Reveals His Character.
If the voice inside you sounds unloving, impatient, or
angry, it is not God’s voice. God is holy, pure, patient,
loving, forgiving, and compassionate. Ask yourself if
this voice reveals God’s character.

5. God’s Voice is Clear to Those Who Listen.
In order to hear and recognize God’s voice, we must
listen. If we are not listening, we may miss out
on God’s best for us. His answer, remember, may
not come right away. Be diligent and steadfast while
you wait for His guidance.

5. WHAT WORKS FOR US: FOCUSED PRAYER TIME
Ever ask someone to do the prayer time during your women's event
and  the prayer leader takes more time than your keynote did?
Well here is what we do to have a more focused prayer time. Prior to our
retreat or bible study, we ask the Lord for a specific area of prayer to
focus on.
We then ask our prayer leader to focus their praying on that need. For
example, one
month our prayer time was focused on praying for women with lost or
rebillious
children; another month, we focused on praying for strength and endurance
or tired women. We also ask our leader to pray a scripture over these needs.
For example: Father, we know your Word tells us we we can do all things
through
Christ who strengthens us…we need your strength this week. This works for
us.
We are better stewards of our program time, we are prayed up in advance, and
of
course if the Holy Spirit prompts us, we can go beyond our focus.

Above is an example of a new column we want you to
participate in. It doesn't take much. Just tell us what worked
at your recent women's event and/or leadership meeting.

7. wm Q&A: Answer to BANNER MINISTRY question
In our last issue Janice asked: Do you have any information about
women who have done decortive banners for their churches?
I am working on ideas for seasonal banners for my
church and am looking for some ideas and information.

We thank Sindy Slowinski of Rio Vista Church of the Nazarene,
Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA, the women of Island Pond Baptist
Church in New Hampshire, and Patricia for their responses. See
The full response at www.womensministry.net/q&a/banner.htm

Here is a sample of what was provided.
Besides "The Anchor Holds" I have created other banners that say:
Awesome God
Follow the Son (as in follow Jesus)
Forward in Faith
Love The Lord With All Your Heart, Soul, Mind
He is Risen (Easter Banner)
Give Thanks (Thanksgiving)
Peace * Joy * Love * Jesus (Christmas)
