1. FROM THE PUBLISHER
I heard on the news recently that Sunday will
be the busiest day of phone activity for the
year. The reason, Sunday is Mothers Day!
Mothers are the single most unifying factor
of the human experience-we all have one,
and many of you reading this are one!

So much of what we are is because of our
mother's influence. So much of what our
children are is because of our influence.
How important it is for us to be praying mothers.

We should never neglect praying the truth
of scripture over our children each day.
Praying peace and protection over them,
and even praying for their future spouse.

My mom sent me this poem by an anonymous
author last week. She thought it would be
meaningful because I am the mother of two sons.

My prayer today is for one
Whom I have never met.
Care for her and guide her,
Lest others might forget.

She'll be a bride some day,
The groom will be our son.
Grant her wisdom, God
And compassion for everyone.

Give her a sense of humor
To help her enjoy life.
Give her strength and courage
When she faces strife.

Teach her to have hope;
Let her faith be strong.
Surround her with Thy love
And keep her for our son.

I have no doubt that my mother prayed for
my husband from the time he wore diapers
until today as he changes her grandson's
diapers! For that, I say, "Thanks Mom,
and thank you Lord." May none of us forget
the impact of a praying woman.

3. SPEAKER ILLUSTRATION:
The Subtle Influence of a Woman
Ralph Waldo Emerson and his son struggled and
strained trying to wrestle a female calf into the barn.
Drenched with sweat, the great sage
was on the brink of losing his self-control when a
servant girl came by. Smiling sweetly, she thrust a
finger into the animal's mouth and, lured by this
maternal gesture, the calf peacefully followed the
girl into the barn.

7. wm Q&A: ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE RESPONSE
In our last issue, Sarah asked: Can anyone tell us your
typical organizational structure for your women's ministry
team. Specifically, how many do you have on your leadership
team, what are their titles, and what are their
responsibilities?

We appreciate Jean Kester, Betty Richardson, Debbie Stuart,
and Kate for their responses. See the full response at
www.womensministry.net/q&a/structure.htm

Each response provides helpful tips on organizing an
effective women's ministry. Organizing your ministry
under the leadership of two co-directors who oversee
various ministry groups such as outreach, spiritual
growth, fellowship, etc. have been successful.
Debbie Stuart  replies: We have 13 team members,
this was based on the needs of Women's Ministry at
my church. I am the director and there are 2 co-captains.
(We function like a baseball team) The team is
divided in half with each co-captain taking 6 members
to be responsible for. The positions on the team are:

Prayer Coordinator - prayer calendars, missions
emphasis, prayer retreats/nights, etc.
Care Coordinator - emergency/special needs advisor,
personal contacts, visits, etc.
Communication Coordinator - newsletter,
announcements, flyers, tent cards, bookmarks
Hospitality/Decorating Coordinator - self explanatory
Publicity Coordinator - bulletin board, pictures, W.M.
table in foyer, drama
Special Events Coordinator - plans special ministry
events for women
Outreach Coordinator - assures events are seeker
friendly, community projects, etc.
Evangelism Coordinator - oversees witnessing
training and opportunities
Heart to Heart Coordinator - oversees Heart to
Heart Program
Each coordinator is responsible for forming their
own small team to accomplish responsibilities as
well as mentor for possibly replacing them on the
leadership team when that time comes.

All job descriptions include: actively participating in
discipleship and bible study, be a woman of
integrity and godly conduct. For more detailed
descriptions, send requests to
djs0512@prysm.net I'll be happy to mail them to you!
See the responses from others at

to women's ministry, send it to us. We'll post it in
our newsletter and then share the responses in the next issue.

8. What Works for Us
The most recent event at Willow Point was the
Daughter's Tea. (We call it that instead of Mother/
Daughter Tea because not every woman is a mother,
or has a mother or has a daughter, HOWEVER...
every woman is a daughter!

One afternoon as I was talking to the Lord about
the tea. He put a very heavy prayer burden on
my heart for this event. Not understanding exactly
what the urgency was or what to expect, I immediately
considered how I could include, not only the Leadership
Team, but other women to be in prayer for that day.

As the Lord does from time to time, He put together
words that rhyme. I typed them out on a 4x5 piece
of parchment paper with a small flavored tea bag
attached at the bottom with a bow, and a magnet
on the back. I asked the team to take it, put it on the
refrigerator and pray for the Tea every time they saw
it. They also took one and gave it to a prayer warrior
who would also pray. These are the words from the
Lord that day, you are welcome to use them, change
them, share them, I hope they help...

The Father's Tea
This simple bag of flavored tea,
serves as a reminder for you and me
to earnestly prepare for our Daughter's Tea
through special prayer on bended knee.

His plan, it's true we can not see,
by faith in our hearts we will believe
His presence is with us on our journey,
His plan and purpose is our destiny.

The Lord can use this "Daughter's Tea"
to usher women into His company,
and bring to hearts such serenity
and change our lives for all eternity!

It will all be over eventually,
then we can rest so peacefully,
with eyes fixed toward the heavenlies
we'll sit with the Father and have some tea!

After it was over each woman was encouraged to
take their tea bag and have tea with the Father
and thank Him for His presence and blessing that
day. It had a tremendous effect and lasting results!
