1. FROM THE PUBLISHER
Greetings friends. I'm going to skip the inspiration today
in deference to some important information.

As of August 1, Jennifer Rothschild Ministries
has relocated to Springfield, MO. And of course,
so has our WomensMinistry.Net offices. We're very
excited about this move to the beautiful Ozarks of
southwest Missouri, just 30 minues north of Branson.
However, because WomensMinistry.Net is an
internet based publication, our email doesn't change.
Continue to send your women's ministry news, ideas,
and tips to publisher@womensministry.net, or use our
web based fill-in forms at http://www.womensministry.net. Why don't
you take about 5 minutes right now, and send us an
installment for our What Works in Women's Ministry column.
Hundreds of our readers would enjoy reading a paragraph
or two about what is working for your women's ministry program.

For those of you sending photos or checks for your
Silver or Gold listings in the wmDirectory, send them to
WomensMinistry.Net
1730 E. Republic Rd., Suite A220
Springfield MO 65804

Finally, for booking and product information, visit
http://www.womensministry.net/JR or
email booking@jenniferrothschild.com.

By the way, my husband Phil is speaking to hundreds
of women's ministry leaders this weekend at a
women's leadership conference on the topic
of using the Internet for Women's Ministry.
He tells me he'll summarize some key points and provide
them in our next newsletter. If you'd like to chat on-line with him
during the his session, see the directions below under
Chat In Real Time. Until next time, may God richly bless your ministry.

2. CHAT ON LINE IN REAL TIME
On Friday and Saturday, August 6, 7, I'll be
presenting a session on Using the Internet in
Women's Ministry for the conference highlighted
above. As part of the presentation I will be showing
women how to use Yahoo Clubs, among other things,
to build relationships with Non-christians and Christians.
It would be great fun if some of you would chat on-line
with, in real time, while I visit the Yahoo Club I just created.

If you'd like to chat on-line with me during
one or both of the sessions, here is what you do.
I'd like to schedule a chat for 2:30 p.m. on Friday, and
10:30 a.m. on Saturday. All you have to do is join our
Women's Ministry Magazine club I created at
http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/womensministrymagazine

To join, simply go to the web page above and click on CLICK HERE TO LOGIN located in top right corner. You'll have to
create a Yahoo id and password. Then click on CHAT in the left hand column. It will ask you to JOIN. JOIN our club, and then come back and click CHAT again. Be sure to wait for the chat message box to load. It might take a 30 seconds or so.

That's it! Then begin chatting by typing brief messages in the chat box at the bottom and press send - it will be great fun. This may be the start of something great. You can always click on the HELP link located under MEMBERS if you need more information. See you at 2:30 on Saturday,
or 10:30 on Saturday. Philp Rothschild

3. SPEAKER ILLUSTRATION:
PURPOSE: A Mission verses a "Job"
Michele Kwan is an 18 year old Olympic
Champion ice skater. Recently, her coach tried
to motivate her by getting her to see the "big picture."
He said, "Michele, if you defend your world
championship in Helsinki, and do it again next year
in Australia, and again in Vancouver and a fourth time
in the 2002 Olympics, you will hold more titles than
any other American skater. The "big picture" didn't
motivate Michele. In fact, she laughed at her coach
and said, "Stop looking so far down the road! My
skating is what motivates me!"

This is the difference between a "mission" and a
mere "job." In a job, we tend to be motivated by the
rewards that result from our activity (performance);
in a mission, the activity itself is motivation enough
because there is a sense of fulfillment in the activity.

4. wmUpdate: Search for Speakers by Keywords
Last issue, we discussed how easy it was to find a speaker
speaker from your area for your next women's ministry event.
If you want to find a speaker for a certain topic, this is what you do.
At our wmPeopleDirectory website,

When you are given a dialog box - that's what they call those window
forms you fill out - select DESCRIPTION from the

Press the SEARCH button. It will automatically search all
categories (speakers-authors, musicians, drama) for the KEYWORDS
found in the DESCRIPTION box. Keep in mind only, Silver and Gold

5. wmTIP: PLANNING SPECIAL EVENTS FOR WOMEN
How to you encourage unchurched women to attend
your women's events? To R-E-A-C-H these women
we may have to do some things differently.

Rethink
Encourage Nonchurched Women to Attend
Announce! Announce! Announce!
Challenge members
Holy Spirit Led

Re-think Everything--We need to think like women who
are without Christ. What motivates them? Why would
they want to come to one of our special events? We
must be aware of what is important in women's lives.
These things become ways to bring them to a
meaningful relationship with Christ.

We also have to be careful when we name our events.
Titles like "Only Jesus" and "He Lifted Me" won't be
attractive to many women, especially non-Christian
or unchurched women. Instead of "A Study of 1 Corinthians
13", why not "True Love", or "A Love That Never Ends",
or even "The Love of Your Life". Make your themes and
titles something y our non-Christian neighbor would want to come to.

Next time we will address Encouraging
Nonchurched Women to Attend. Excerpt from Women
Reaching Women: Beginning and Building a Growing Women's
Enrichment Ministry, LifeWay Press, compiled by Chris Adams.

7. wmParent Tip: by Cheri Fuller
Capitalizing on Your Child's Curiosity

Your child's curiosity is one of the most powerful
motivators for learning. When kids ask questions,
we need to respond positively and make the
most of this teachable window of opportunity.
Here's how:

1. Whether it's "Why's that bug lighting up?"
or "Why does the cat have whiskers?" try
to answer your child's questions as thoroughly
as possible in the time you have.

2. Give her time to explain what she already
knows and what she wants to know about
the subject. "What do you think, honey?"
could lead into a good discussion. You can
also build on what your child already knows
or jog her memory by saying, "Remember
what we said last week when we talked
about the lightning bug?"

3. Don't feel like you have to have all the
answers!! Just act interested, and if you
don't know the "WHY?" jot her question
down on an index card, and next time
you're by the library, help her find a book
that covers the topic.

4. Give your child a sense that you are also
curious and interested in how and why things
work in the world around you. As you do,
you're being a good role model of a lifelong
learner.

8. What Works for Us: Ladies Tea
Our Women's Faith and Friendship Bible study celebrate
being together two times each year. Once as our last day
in December and the second time the first week in June
before we all break for Summer vacation. With all the
interest these days in tea, tea pots and all the goodies
that go along with it, we decided to have a "Tea" and
create a tea room as our theme for June.

Many women have those one of a kind tea cup and
saucers that their mothers/grandmothers gave them.
They keep them in their china or curio cabinet but
rarely pull them out and use them. Well, here was
their opportunity to 'show and tell' AND offer an
opportunity for our community to join in the fun
and hear the message of God's love.

We had round tables seating 6 or 8 which we
covered with white table cloths. Women either chose
to decorate themselves or partner with someone else
and bring in cloth napkins and an additional lacey
(square preferred) table cloth....something fancy to
lay upon white cloth --even if it were another small linen
or fancy table cloth. Someone used a fancy table runner.
For those who could not do anything like but still wanted
to host a table, we provided a very large round paper doily
upon which a topiary centerpiece was placed.
The centerpieces were made of a sprig of silk
ivy and one large cluster of dusty pink or blued purple
silk hydrangea on a long dowel rod in a clay pot that
had been painted dark green with sponging of gold
on it to which was added a 6-8 looped sheer ribbon
bow just under the topiary's top.

The food was fresh fruits to compliment the delicious
tea sandwiches found at a local bakery and very
reasonably priced. We also added freshly baked
scones served with lemon curd, marmalade, and
various other preserves. One of the members of
our class even made individual chocolates for
everyone in ruffled paper cups. We provided the
varieties of tea but some of our women had
favorites they brought along also.

Many ladies brought beautiful crystal plates to
serve as platters for their table's food. One of our
ladies had lots and lots of tea pots, so she brought
them all and each woman served her table's hot
water from the main carafes in these. We provided
clear plastic 8" plates with the ruffled edge and
clear plastic utensils.

Our theme was "Spiritual Gardening: Digging up
those bitter roots" Hebrews 12:15 Our speaker was
sensational sharing about the roots of unforgiveness
we allow to grow in our hearts and how we are called
to take the higher road and forgive. Her personal
testimony was so compelling that upon hearing
her no one could give any good reason for
continuing to hold onto their bitterness. We also
had a harpist who played Christian music both
before our program began and during the eating
portion of the event.

We advertised in the local newspapers inviting
everyone and anyone to come. We also advertised
that there would be a children's program and lunch
for the children AND there would be a free will offering
taken to cover expenses. We had 75 women and 32
children. We also taped the message and made this
available also as a way to help defray expenses.
God was good - as always. The message was powerful,
the setting was everything a woman loves and the
food was yummy. We met our expenses with a
little to spare. If you have any questions about
this event, please don't hesitate to contact me
at veenstra@mich.com. God's blessing to you! Edie
