1. FROM THE PUBLISHER
Greetings friends. We’ve missed you this past month
and from the number of inquiries, you’ve missed us.
As indicated in our last newsletter, our office - and our
home - has relocated to Springfield Missouri, in
the beautiful Ozark Mountains, just above Branson, the
”live music capital of the world.”  Thanks for your patience
as we have been getting settled. We’re back on our regular
schedule of compiling our newsletter at least every two weeks.

On a recent radio program I heard the hosts speaking about
ministry. The phrase he repeated was “ministry costs.”
It struck me – ministry does cost.  Ministry costs us time.
Ministry costs us choices. Ministry demands sacrifice.
Don't be deceived in thinking that the road God calls
you to walk in ministry should he smooth. When your
tired and discouraged, remember the reward is far
greater than the costs.

The reward is not only seeing God’s harvest, but it is
the satisfaction of knowing that you are in the center of
His will – that you are living a life of purpose.   There is no
greater reward. So… let us run the race with endurance,
laying aside every weight, looking only unto Jesus, the
author and finisher of our faith. Hebrews 12:1-2

2. wmICEBREAKER: MINGLE, MINGLE
Objectives:
To encourage mingling among women at your next
event or bible study
Materials:
cards/paper/tape/ or sticky nametags
Procedure:
Use your theme to come up with a general category for the cards. For example, a "Bloom Where Your Planted" luncheon, would have names of flowers and plants on the cards. Don't let them see their card and place it on their back. They are allowed to ask only one Yes or no question about their card to each person there(until they figure it out). For a "Welcome Home" luncheon you could use things that are found in a home.
Thanks to Debbie Dominguez, of Texas for this idea.

3. SPEAKER ILLUSTRATION:
Three Wise Women
Do you know what would have happened
if it had been Three Wise Women instead of Three Wise Men?
They would have asked for directions, arrived on time, helped
deliver the baby cleaned the stable, made a casserole, and
brought practical gifts!

4. wmDirectory Update: Silver or Gold?
Over 150 women are listed in our People Directory –
the one source for finding a speaker, author, musician, or
dramatist for your next women’s event. While BRONZE listings
are FREE, you can choose to pay for a SILVER or GOLD listing. Which one is best? Have you ever heard the phrase: A
picture is worth a thousand words. Well it applies here too. Based on reports from those listed, there seems to be more inquiries reported from those who have  GOLD listings, rather than SILVER or BRONZE listings. It may be well worth the extra $10 to have your photo posted. Test our theory yourself, scroll down
the list, and you’ll find your eyes will be drawn to those listings that have photos more often than those who do not.

5. wmTIP: PLANNING SPECIAL EVENTS FOR WOMEN – Part 2

R-ethink Everything

E-ncourage Nonchurched Women to Attend

A-nounce! Announce!   Announce!

C-hallenge members

H-oly Spirit Led

How do you  ENCOURAGE unchurched women to come to your
special events?  Following are some ideas to help you reach
outside the walls of the church to include those who don’t
normally attend church:

ü       Give guests a price break.  If you charge $15 for
members, charge $10 for nonmembers

ü       No late fees charged for non members so that
guests may sign up at the last minute

ü       Go to “away” places such as a hotel, office
building, pubic park or retreat center since these
represent neutral, non-threatening settings for visitors

ü       Publicize that there will be giveaways and door
prizes (women LOVE getting gifts)

ü       Offer special emphases such as friend day,
neighbor day, teacher appreciation days, family
days, work-associate days, brown-bag lunch or
picnic days, even giving extra privileges to those
who are new or visiting by giving them the choice
seats or eating first

Do whatever it takes to encourage women outside the
church to attend your events so they can have the
opportunity to hear the gospel and fellowship with
Christians.

ANNOUNCE your events any way you can to make
sure the word gets out.  The best publicity it still
person-to-person.  Church statistics tell us that 95%
of the people who attend a church for the first time do
so because someone invited them.  This is also true
for women’s events.

Next time:  How to C-hallenge your members and
make sure your event is H-oly Spirit led!

8. wmParent Tip: by Cheri Fuller
Developing Your Child's Values

Raising moral kids with strong values is just as important and perhaps more so than raising smart kids (although we all want our children to do well in school!). There's a crisis in values in America, with thousands of kids devoid of conscience. The best place to start developing character is at home, so try these character-building tips:
1. Let your child accept responsibility for the consequences when he deserves them because of a wrongdoing, instead of defending, rescuing, and fixing things.

2. Don't just drop your kids off at the church or synagogue. If you want them to be involved, participate in the activities yourself and model your faith at home.

 3. Let your child help you do volunteer work--putting on mailing labels for a charity fundraiser or serving food at a homeless shelter or visiting people at a nursing home.

4. Paint pictures in your child's mind of strong character by telling and reading stories of real heroes--men and women like Paul Revere and Florence Nightengale, Clara Barton and Millard Fuller (founder of Habitat of Humanity), Dave Dravecky, Joni Eareckson Tada, and great religious heroes like Moses and David.

5. Have a family motto for each month, with the application visually depicted.

Post it on the refrigerator or bulletin board, so everyone can learn it, and encourage the doing of it as well: * Forgive and forget. * Honor and respect one another. * When at first you don't succeed, try, try again! * Treat others like you want them to treat you. * Honesty is the best policy.
