1. FROM JENNIFER
During my college years, a friend of mine gave me a
very special gift.  It was a beautiful statue of a woman,
with slender lines, adorned with a graceful hat and a
vase of flowers.  For seven years of marriage this
Lladro had been moved from city to city, from home
to home.  It was one of my most treasured possessions.
One afternoon however, my four-year-old son was
playing a game of hide-and-seek near the table where
the Lladro sat.  Inevitably a slight bump would send
her to the floor, chipping the tips of the petals on the
flowers.  We glued parts of the Lladro back together,
but the petals were never the same.

Another four years have passed - another city, another home.
My beautiful Lladro has followed, and she still finds her home
in our living room. I often wonder why I value her -- why she
has a place of honor on my mantle.  She's flawed.  She's no
longer perfect.  She's surely lost all monetary value.

I've realized that I value her because she reminds me of a
person I know.  She reminds me of me. I am broken.  I am
imperfect.  I've lost some of my slender lines.  My petals have
been chipped.

In fact, we are all broken. We are all flawed. But we are still
of value because Someone loves us and positions us in a
place of honor. On the mantle of God's heart, you and I have
a place - not because of our beauty or perfection - but because
we are treasured and loved. As you minister this week, remember
that you will meet women who are broken and flawed. Yet just like
you, they are precious treasures to the heart of God. Help them to
find their place on the mantle of God's heart.
Until next time, may God richly bless your ministry.

(What kind of fruit are you?)
Objective:

3. SPEAKER ILLUSTRATION
Humor: Adam’s Rib
At Sunday School they were teaching how God
created everything, including human beings.
Little Tommy, a child in the kindergarten class, seemed
especially intent when they told him how Eve was created
out of one of Adam's ribs.

Later in the week his mother noticed him lying down as though he
were ill, and said, "Tommy, what is the matter?"

Little Tommy responded, "I have a pain in my side. I think I'm
going to have a wife." Out of the mouths of babes!!!

5. wmTIP: PLANNING SPECIAL EVENTS FOR WOMEN -
Part 3
R-ethink Everything
E-ncourage Nonchurched Women to Attend
A-nnounce! Announce!  Announce!
C-hallenge members
H-oly Spirit Led

We have already addressed the R (re-think), E (encourage
nonchurched women to attend) and A (announce) issues
regarding women’s events.  But how do we C-hallenge
members to get out of their comfort zones and invite
unchurched women to attend the event?   Providing
incentives can help members do what they already know
they need to be doing.

Bring a Friend:  have a “bring a friend” event.  You can
even go so far as to have an event where no one can come
unless they bring a friend (someone not from your church).

Reserve Seats for Members with Guests:  create a reserved
section at the front for those members who bring a friend
and for other guests who come alone.

Have a Reception:  for members with visitors just prior to
the event.  Have church staff members and women’s leaders
there to greet and mingle.  You might even provide members
with guests a different nametag or something else to identify
them during the main event.  The reception is also helpful to
let guests know your church is there to minister to them.

Make Special Introductions:  as long as you are careful not to
embarrass anyone, you can do some meaningful recognitions
during them event.

Take Photographs: of the member and their guests.  This is
especially great for family members.

Provide Evangelism Training:  prior to the event train in
lifestyle witnessing, friendship evangelism, and building
relationships.  Help your women learn to give their
testimonies and share their faith.  When the event comes,
they will be ready to respond!

Finally, and most importantly, make sure your event is H-oly
Spirit led.   Are you expecting God to move at your special
event?  If you are not, then you probably will not notice when
He does.  We demonstrate our anticipation of God’s movement
by doing some things in advance:

Train leaders to pray,  and look for God’s movement and
direction.  Teach them to pray individually and together.
Train leaders to disciple and mentor other women.
         Train leaders to witness.
         Listen to God

7. wmParent Tip: by Cheri Fuller

Can Today’s Children Write?
Recently, the Department of Education released
the results of nationwide testing on writing skills of
fourth-graders, eighth-graders and 12th graders, and
the results are not only dismal; they’re alarming:
Only one in four kids has the knowledge and skills
needs to write stories and reports proficiently. That
means ¾ of all the thousands of students tested
have mastered writing skills!

What can we do? Encourage your kids to write:

1. Thank you notes: whenever they receive a gift,
especially for birthdays and Christmas, make sure
that they have special notes to express their
appreciation in writing. It’s not only good character
training but is excellent writing practice.

2. Have a family bulletin board and write notes to
each other. Tack up inspirational quotes and
encouraging words for your kids to read, and get
them to add to those.

3. The next time your child writes something and
shares it with you, post it on the refrigerator.

4. Write a grocery list together before going to the
store or dictate it to your child.

5. Encourage list-making when your child needs
supplies for a science project or wants to plan a party.

For more tips on growing terrific writers, including
how to get kids’ writing published, see Cheri’s book

8. What Works for Us: K.I.S.S.
Sherrie reminds us to Keep it Simple Sweetie.
Our church just hosted a Ladies' Conference.  The one
thing I learned is that keeping it simple but professional
is the key.  You will enjoy it so much more if you will
relax and keep it simple.  The ladies will receive more
knowing it is a true ministry rather than a showing off.
We are a growing church and everything costs money.
It is better to spend less and be creative than to put your
Women's Ministry in a financial bind. All seemed to have
a wonderful time and were all truly blessed. As the the
pastor's wife and the President of the Women's
Ministry in our church, I was blessed also by being able
to relax and receive!  Praise the Lord.
Thanks Sherri, from Pittsburg Church of God
