1. FROM JENNIFER

The first Sunday of the new year I listened as my pastor recounted valued
fatherly advice he had been given, "Proceed on your knees son, proceed
on your knees."

To me this seemed a fitting reminder for the beginning of a new year, a
new decade, a new millennium. Making the beacon of prayer my guiding
light for every path I take is my desire.

Proceed on your knees means to move at a spirit-led pace, not running
ahead, not lagging behind. Did you ask God to okay the plans you've made,
or did you receive your plans from Him? Will you perform ministry exactly
the way you did last year, or will you sense his leading to try something
new? These are the questions I am asking myself today.

As women, we know how to "proceed" - we can go, we can run, we can even
juggle. I'm finding the blessing is not found in the activity of proceeding, but in
the position of kneeling. You'll be amazed at how your perspective changes when
you're on your knees. Proceed on your knees ladies, proceed on your knees.
God Bless You,

2. Planning Tip: SATURDAY NIGHT EVENTS MAY COST LESS

There are many factors to consider when planning a special women's event -
Theme (by the way, have you seen our Theme Generator
at www.womensministry.net/themes.htm), Decorations, Speaker, Purpose, Location,
Capacity, and Food, among others. If you are booking an out of town speaker,
the Date and Day of your event should receive some additional attention.

Part of the host's overall expenses will be the travel expenses for your
speaker (and possibly an assistant). Take a look at the tips for finding
low fares, provided by Travelocity.Com:

Make your reservation early.
Many discount fares require that you make a reservation 7, 14 or 21 days
before your trip depending on the fare.
Flying on a weekday usually costs less.
Flights on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday usually offer the lowest
fares. Fares are sometimes (but not always) higher on Monday and
Friday than on other weekdays.
Stay over a Saturday night.
Most low fares require that you stay over at least one Saturday night
before your return flight. However, some fares may only require you
to stay a minimum of 3 or 4 days.
One airline is better than two.
It's almost always less expensive to use only one airline for a trip
instead of two. Booking two airlines can, in some cases, cost
hundreds of dollars more.
If you don't at first succeed, try an earlier or later flight.
To get the lowest roundtrip fare, that fare must be available on both
the departing and return flights you select. If the fare is sold out on
either of these, the price you end up with will be much higher. Try an
earlier or later flight if you can't find the fare you want; or, if possible,
consider flying on another day.

Point: When it doesn't matter if your event is on a Friday night or
Saturday night, consider making it Saturday night. This way, your
program guest can stay over Saturday night, and could potentially
save your ministry hundreds of dollars.

3. 2000 DIRECTORY NOW ACCEPTING RENEWALS AND NEW LISTINGS

Our inaugural 1999 Directory of Speakers (and other gifted communicators)
was a smashing success according to comments from those looking
for event speakers, and from those listed in the Directory.

Our 2000 Directory of Speakers and other gifted communicators
is now open for business. If you are an author, speaker,
musician or other gifted communicator, you don't want to miss out
on having your contact information listed in the only clearinghouse
of it's kind. Women's ministry event organizer from across the
country visit our Directory to find program guests for upcoming events.

There is either NO CHARGE, or a small, one time yearly fee for being listed
in the 2000 Directory. The rates are as follows:
NO CHARGE for a basic BRONZE listing
(which includes your name, address, and phone)
$39.95 for the SILVER listing
(which includes all of the above, plus description, web and email address link)
$49.95 for a GOLD listing
(which includes all of the above, plus a photo)

This is a one time charge for the entire year. That's less than
.14 cents per day to have your listing viewed by thousands of
visitors per year. For those SILVER and GOLD listings that are
renewing for 2000, you receive an additional 10% discount for
being a charter member.

All SILVER and GOLD renewals will need to pay for their
2000 listing at http://www.womensministry.net/directory by
January 31, 2000. BRONZE listings will remain posted at NO
CHARGE. ALL SILVER and GOLD listings that are not renewed
by January 3, 2000 will be transferred to BRONZE status. You can
pay on-line, by mail, or by fax. For more details visit:
http://www.womensministry.net/directory

If you are a little web-shy, request an e-mail form be e-mailed
to you. Send your request to: info

4. New Resource: WOMEN'S MINISTRY TELE-FORUM

We are very excited about a new resource WomensMinistry.Net will be
offering. On Thursday February 10, at noon eastern time, we will offer
our first Tele-forum. Jennifer Rothschild will be the special guest for a
60 minute discussion on the topic of Creating an Effective Worship
Experience through Music. A limited number of you will be able to
call a phone number and discuss this topic live with Jennifer. The
only cost will be the cost of a typical long distance phone call.
Imagine sitting at a large roundtable with 30 other women,
discussing this topic and many others over the phone.

For the next three months we will feature a different speaker,
author, or expert, who will provide insights and ideas related to
several women's ministry issues. Topics like How to Begin a
Women's Ministry, How to Use the Internet in Women's Ministry,
and How to Get Published are just a few of the topics we are
considering. We'll let you know all the details in next week's
email. For now, think about topics you'd like to have discussed
and send them to comments@womensministry.net.  Registration for
limited seats, will begin after next week's email newsletter.
