FROM THE PUBLISHERS
Hello friends. Sorry about not getting a newsletter out
to you last week. Phil and I just returned from Ocala FL
where I spoke and led worship for the Women of Influence
Conference hosted by Florida Baptist Women's Missions
and Ministry Department and First Baptist Church of Ocala.
800 wonderful women attended. Esther Burroughs, author of
Garden Path to Mentoring, spoke with passion, on being
a Women of Influence by counting  your blessings,
being a blessing, and being women of prayer.
Missionary from Bangladesh, Gloria Thurmond, helped us to
renewed our commitment to reach the world by sharing her
moving accounts of life in a third world country.  Next week
I'll highlight the Oklahoma Baptist "Especially for Women"
conference I was privileged to be a  part of just 4 days prior.
We'll have photos and workshop topics posted.

NEW MEMBER SHEPHERDING
Have you ever joined a church and struggled to
find your place?  Many new members will ask,
“Where do I go to be with other women?” and
“Where am I to serve God in this church?”  As
a women’s ministry leader you can make a
difference in the lives of women who join your
church by forming a New Member Shepherding
Ministry.
1. Begin with a handshake, smile, and hello to
greet the new member when she is presented
to the church for membership.
2. Call her and set up a convenient time to meet
with her.
3. Personally visit her in her home and share
information about the church and women’s ministry.
~ Make sure she knows where her and her
children’s Sunday School classes meet
~ Share with her about other children’s activities
available
~ Tell her about your intercessory prayer ministry
and ask her how you and others can pray specifically
for her and her family
~ Ask her what questions she has about the church
or community
4. Follow up at least four or five more times:
~ Send a hand written note welcoming her to
your church
~ Invite her to the next luncheon, dinner or other
activity with a complimentary ticket (even offer to
pick her up)
~ Invite her to your house or a coffee shop
~ Invite her to Wednesday night supper and Bible
study
~ Bring her to your weekly women’s group and
introduce her to others
~ Introduce her to other new members
~ Greet her at church and ask if she would like to
sit with you, especially if she is alone
~ Take homemade cookies or bread by her house,
or flowers from your yard
~ Send a “Thinking of You” card to let her know you
are thinking of her

Continue to minister to her until she finds
her “niche” and feels comfortable enough to begin
to reach out to another woman new to the church!
