    Who Me?

    Objective: To combine an ice breaker game with the need for introduction and getting acquainted. This is a great icebreaker for a retreat or multi-church event.

    What you will need:

    1. Sheets of Paper
    2. Pens or Pencils
    3. Timer
    4. Ideas for questions, if women need help getting started

     

    Give every woman a sheet of paper and a pen. Ask them to write down four questions that they would like to ask someone they just met. Encourage them to stay away from generic questions like, "What is your name."

    After a few minutes for the above, ask the ladies to start moving around the room in no particular order while exchanging answers and questions with as many new people as possible. Ten-fifteen minutes later, get each member of your group to stand up and say her name aloud. When this happens, everyone else shouts out something they found about her during question time.

    Encourage all the women to share the 'facts' they learned about each other, while ensuring that ever member of the group gets a turn at saying her name.

    Event Idea
    Victorian Christmas Tea

    Based on: The Story of the Magi

    Description: A time of worship and carol singing, a guest speaker (You could also have someone read The Story of the Magi aloud if you include younger girls.), followed by a tea and dessert fellowship time. Ladies were asked to bring their own cup and saucer (we provided extras). Members of the leadership team served the ladies at their tables a variety of flavours of hot tea from pretty tea pots. Decorations reflected the Victorian theme and we used lots of candles, including many luminaries (sand in a mason jar with a tea light). Centerpieces of a cup and saucer containing a small floral arrangement and a "tea quote" were given away as door prizes. Menu's listing and giving descriptions of the various teas were placed on each ladies plate.

    Leadership Tip
    Holiday Affirmations

    This is a great time of year to say thank you to your leadership team or others you serve with. Take some time to write special people a personal note. Here are some things you might include:

     

    • Mention a gift or talent they have and how it contributed to the team or ministry.
    • Recall the success of a task or event they completed.
    • Share a positive comment you were told about them.
    • Share how they specifically touch your life/heart.
    • Include the ministry name, church name and date on the bottom or back of the card.

     

    Remember to be sincere. Make each note personal and unique.

    I have cards that pastors, leaders and others have given me through the years, and I love looking back over the encouraging words and prayers expressed in each one.
