Anne Graham Lotz, the daughter of evangelist
Billy Graham appeared on CNN's Larry King Live
in Spring of 2000. Though she has appeared many
times since, I remembered this particular
interview because of not only what she said, but,
how she said it. I was impressed and inspired by
her composed and confident exchange with her
interviewer.
Larry King frequently challenged her with
difficult and controversial questions.
From her interview, I learned a lot about how a
Christian woman in leadership should conduct
herself, and I thought you might benefit also from
my observations of Anne's masterful, and full of
the Master, interview.
Observation 1: She never avoided a
controversial question, but instead, she deflected
controversy with her gentle and well chosen words.
Observation 2: Her answers were never
cluttered with the phrase "in my opinion;" rather,
her responses carried the phrase "scripture tells
us..."
Observation 3: She sought to answer every
negatively phrased question with a positively
phrased response. For example: Question: "Are you
saying that only Christians will go to heaven?"
Answer: "Oh, any one can go to heaven if they
place their trust in Christ."
Observation 4: Though her words could have
been disputed by those who disagree, her
countenance and composure could not be.
Observation 5: It was clear that her
purpose in every exchange was to deliver Truth -
that was her lighthouse, her ultimate goal. The
vehicle she used to direct her audience toward
that Truth was a spirit of kindness, and a genuine
sense of compassion. She was not only concerned
with the SUBSTANCE of the questions, but she was
obviously concerned for the SOUL of the
questioner.
It was a glorious testimony to not only her
Heavenly Father - but also to her earthly father -
whose legacy she is living out with such dignity
and integrity.
So women of the Word, "...be diligent to present
yourself approved to God as a workman who does not
need to be ashamed, handling accurately the word
of truth."
2 Timothy 2:15
New: Jennifer and Anita Renfroe Team for Fresh
Grounded Faith Conference
I'm so excited to tell you about the launch of our
Fresh Grounded Faith Conferences
These Kingdom-minded, regional events encourage
women to connect with each other and God. Our
desire is to warm your heart, and awaken your
spirit through great Bible study, incredible
worship, and off-the-charts laughter.
The Waco, Texas Fresh Grounded Faith with
Jennifer Rothschild will feature wonderful
friend and funny woman
Anita Renfroe (there's a reason she's
received 4 million YouTube visits for her
TotalMomsense performance). We'll also have
incredible worship by former Women of Faith
worship leader
Shelley Jennings.
This fun activity was originally published in
Issue # 145 on Thursday, November 21, 2002 and was
sent to us by Carrin Mahmood.
Description: This is a Treasure Hunt with a
Mission Twist!
1. When women arrive they are given a clue
which leads them to the first hiding place.
2. At that hiding place they retrieve 3 things,
a scripture printed on a festive recipe card with
a cookie recipe on the back, an ingredient or
utensil for the end project, and the clue to the
next spot.
3. Each hiding spot has some crumbs and the
clues are written as if they are from the
gingerbread man who ran away.
4. When your teams all get to the last spot
(the church kitchen) You combine all ingredients
and utensils to make gingerbread men
5. While they are baking you have devotions
based on the things that keep us running instead
of focusing on Christ.
6. Cookies may be decorated that evening or
saved for a children's group to decorate, then
packaged and sent to local Mission shelters or
other Nursing homes etc.
This can work with a small group or if your
group is large, divide the women into teams.
Another option is to buy pre-made gingerbread
houses and they pick up the pieces at each
location and the assemble them.

It's not too late to coordinate a Mom's Day of
Prayer in 2008! Please visit the MDOP website
at

office at 479-452-6215.
Objectives: Fun way to mix, mingle and meet new
people!
Materials: one pair of new socks per person
participating
Procedure: Divide two pairs of socks and pin
together the "new" pair. Do this with all the
socks. Pass out the socks and instruct everyone to
find their new "sole" mate (the person with an
exact matching pair). We did this at our ladies
retreat before evening dessert and coffee;
everyone had a great time and lots of ladies were
running around in their new socks!
