The simplest things are often the most profound and sometimes even the most fun. This icebreaker is about as simple as it gets, yet it offers a delightful way for well acquainted groups to get to know each other a little better than they might have thought possible. It is an especially useful idea for team meetings.

Materials Needed: pens, paper and prizes

Procedure: Have everyone write down one thing that nobody knows about them. Then write their name on the back. Collect the papers, and read each one to the group. Their assignment is to guess who best fits the description. Keep score, and give out prizes to the person who makes the most correct guesses

I have done this icebreaker at a women's retreat and laughed till I cried when we learned that it was one of our retired staff members who had gone skinny dipping. I used this at my volunteer appreciation meeting and found out my 6'7" photographer was a champion paint ball combat fighter. I used it at a family reunion and found out that my grandmother (age 85) learned how to swim while holding on to an empty milk container. You never know what you might learn just by asking, and your group might not ever be the same!
