Icebreaker: Obscure Facts
Objectives: To create an atmosphere for women to connect with other women at the event by seeking the women who belong to each fact. Materials: Facts provided by each woman and a table or grid displaying the facts. (You can make one in Word or Excel)
Procedure: Collect an obscure fact, something very few people know, from each woman as they register for the event. Assemble the facts on a table or grid ~ one fact for each square. On the night of the event, pass out the photocopied tables and send the women on a scavenger hunt for who belongs to each fact, recording their name and any additional information provided.
It is great fun to figure out who was a welder, cheerleader, mechanic, diva, etc. The more obscure the fact the better! A variation could be to record the date of salvation of each participant and send the others out to see who belongs to what and get a little background. In this format, a deeper level of intimacy would be established and prepare the ladies for additional sharing later.
