Celebrating Valentine's Day in women's ministry presents the challenge of creating an environment where everyone feels welcome including women who are single, divorced or widowed. We decided to celebrate with a new theme. Instead of Valentines Day, we celebrate 3:16 Day. 

Since John 3:16 is so reflective of God's love for all people, we use a different 3:16 theme each year for Valentine's Day. We've celebrated China 3:16 and Hawaii 3:16. Our next event will be Scandinavia 3:16. 

Our congregation is multi-ethnic, so we ask a different person to coordinate the each year based on their own culture. China 3:16 focused on helping children in China. Hawaii 3:16 was an authentic luau, with live music! 

We celebrate Valentine's Day in the spirit of the greatest love the world has ever known...the love of Jesus for all!  No one feels left out, and you don't need one! Happy 3:16 day!

WM Note: Valentine's Day decorations could still be incorporated into this theme. We can imagine flags and hearts as a really fun way to carry out this theme. We love this idea and think it would be a great way to kick-off the beginnning of Max Lucado's 3:16 study.

This idea could also be used to focus on missions and outreach around the world. Go for it and share the love!
