Event: Ladies SOUPer Bowl

It's football season, and since all good things must come to an end, we thought it would be a good idea to begin thinking about the end of the season...and the Super Bowl. Here's a ministry idea that makes Super Bowl Sunday truly super!

Description: We hosted this as a ladies night out. Everyone signed up to bring either soup. salad or dessert. Coffee, iced tea, crackers, cornbread and various breads were provided by our WM team.

Decorations: Tables were set with brightly colored tablecloths, sports theme napkins, confetti and a variety of centerpieces (pom-poms, footballs, helmets, etc.). Our WM team members borrowed referee shirts from a soccer referee in our church, and we wore whistles around our necks.

Program: We enjoyed eating together and shared a "team devotional" from our coach. A coach from a local Christian college, who happens to be on our women's ministry team, gave a "pep talk" to our ladies to impact our world for Jesus in the coming year.  She challenged us to set a goal, prepare, execute and follow the game plan, persevere and finally to be victorious for Christ. We spent the rest of the evening playing board games and enjoying each other's company.

Throughout the evening, we would "blow the whistle and call time out." This meant it was time for a door prize.  We asked trivia questions about soup and gave a gift to the first to answer correctly.

Sample questions:
What do you call a chicken in a hot tub? (chicken soup)
What do you call the coolest soup around?  (chili)
What is Dracula's favorite soup?  (Scream of Tomato)
How do you make Gold Soup?  (with 24 carrots).

The food was scrumptious. The devotionals were challenging and the team spirit uplifting!
