Ministry: Caring Calls

We are always looking for ways to invite women to join in women's ministry. Most often this means we take the initiative to reach out to women who might feel disconnected. Recently, we began exploring ways we could shepherd and assimilate women of all ages in our church body.

We began by making a list of all women who have attended within the past year. The list was divided equally between the members of our women's ministry team. Our team members commit to calling or visiting each woman at least once during the next two months. Once the initial contact is made, we continue throughout the year.

Each contact includes an introduction explaining that the caller represents the women's ministry.  We chit-chat, ask for personal prayer requests, share scripture when appropriate, and close with a short prayer.  We have been amazed at how women have opened up and expressed their hurts and struggles.  It's been evident that even a small touch makes them feel truly loved. And we've found that the investment in the lives of women is well worth the time it takes to make it happen.
