Leadership Tip: Year At-A-Glance
Submitted by Rhonda Byrd...This "ministry must" activity is ideal for women's ministry leaders, as well as busy people in every church. Not only does it help us spend focused time with those we love, it challenges us to prioritize our lives to honor the Lord. At one of the last meetings or events of the year for your leadership team or women's ministry, present everyone with a complimentary purse-sized calendar for the upcoming year. (WM Note: Craft stores and dollar stores often have these for $1 each or you can make photo copies and distribute). Ask everyone to open their calendar to January. Then ask them to close their eyes and point to a day on the page. The women should circle that day in pen and schedule an entire hour dedicated to the Lord on that day. Repeat this action for each month of the year so that women have 12 hours of dedicated time with the Lord. WM Note: If your women are looking for creative ways to spend that dedicated time, our DOWNLOAD: 12 Ways to Spend Time with the Lord has some great suggestions. After scheduling a year of special "dates" with the Lord, follow the same process to schedule special monthly dates with spouses (or a best friend or family member if they're single) and then with each of their children. WM Note: If women are concerned about spending money on their spouse and/or child date, our DOWNLOAD: 12 FREE Ways to Spend Time with Those You Love has suggestions that don't cost a thing! Women will love this since it is much easier to keep a date or appointment if it is already on your calendar. Remember to emphasize to the group that this time is aside from any daily devotional they may already do, or any Bible study or worship service they already attend. Just like a date night you look forward to all week, this time is reserved just for the Lord. Women will be amazed at how their relationships with the Lord, their spouse and their children will grow and bless them. And it will help them see how we really do have more hours in our day for those who are most important in our lives.
