DOWNLOAD: Year-at-a-Glance Calendar
Philip Rothschild
If you're like me, you might be asking yourself, “ How did we get this far in the year so quickly?” Many of you are planning events, Bible studies, speaking engagements and meetings for the next several months and even into the next year.
If you plan anything in the future you will benefit from this wonderful tool we borrowed and adapted from our friend, Michael Hyatt, CEO of Thomas Nelson Publishers. Michael blogs about leadership effectiveness, time management and a host of other topics. He's one of the best CEO bloggers in the country, and, “We like Mike.”
We asked Mike if we could adapt his year-at-a-glance calendar for the needs of women in leadership. He said, "Yes," so we did. Always thinkin' about ‘cha!
You can print the PDF version of this calendar and simply fill in the blanks. I like to open the Excel spreadsheet version input information directly to into on my computer. One of the best things about the calendar it that you can see multiple days and months at-a-glance. You can block off important days and events, holidays, vacations, and more. This is extremely important when it comes to planning your next women's event, leadership retreat, or personal spa days ;)
If you are planning a women's event on a weekend six months away, wouldn't it be good to know if the public schools were going to be out on a Friday? Many women will take an extended weekend trip with their families if they know school is out on Friday, so if you mark off school holidays, you'll be better prepared to plan ahead. How about the annual festival in your city? You don't want your event to compete with it, so list it on the calendar, and then plan around it instead of being surprised later on. Block off important-city wide events, annual church events, holidays, mission events or big football games so you have an idea of how you might plan around those events or plan for those events by creating a theme that is complementary.
What I love about this calendar is the ability to print out an entire quarter on one sheet of paper. I also like the color coded legend at the bottom of the calendar.
Let us know what you think by leaving a comment on our WM Matters Blog. We'd love to hear from you and learn about how you put this to use.
