WM 101: Evaluating Ministry
It is never too soon to start planning for fall ministry, and summer is a great time to start. Make plans during your summer leadership team meetings, or hold a leadership team retreat to take a second look at the past year and plan for the future. Here are some simple steps to help you get started. Prayer Begin here, and the rest will fall in place. Spend your first meeting or evening of your retreat in prayer. Ask the Lord to help you set aside egos and personal wants to really focus on the needs of your women and your WM. Pray for your church leaders and the members of your congregation. Purpose Did all of your ministry events and activities stay on target with your church and WM vision statements? Review Gather evaluations and ministry surveys to review during your meeting. Two things to consider: (1) Highlights and (2) Learning Points. What was the best of the year? What have you learned? Job Descriptions Review each leader's job description. Do any positions need to be adjusted? Are there any positions that need to be added? Are tasks evenly balanced amongn team members r? Events How successful were your events? What needs to be restructured? Should some events be set aside for the coming year? Can you identify a formula from your successful events that should be followed in the future? Bible Studies Are you offering studies that meet a variety of study needs and maturity levels? Is it time to train some new leaders? Outreach How will your ministry reach beyond the walls of your church this year? What have you done in the past? Are your outreach efforts focused? Growth How have you seen lives changed this year? How have you and your leaders grown? What have you learned? How will the plans you make produce spiritual change? Cover any areas that are specific to your church and ministry. Write it all down and create a plan to move forward for the fall.
