6 Essential Values for
Small Group Bible Study Leaders
Maria Eglisson

Before each new season of Bible study, I host an "Introduction Night" for all small group leaders. This is a perfect opportunity to build community among the leaders and provide materials and a brief review of each upcoming study. I also give every woman the following...

Commitment to Essential Leadership Values

I AGREE TO THE FOLLOWING VALUES:

Value #1: Purpose

I purpose to pursue growth in my Christian life by developing a relationship with God through personal devotion, study and prayer.

Value #2: Group Attendance

I will give priority to the group meeting and will call in advance if I am going to be late or absent.

Value #3: Safe Environment

I will work towards making the bible study a safe place where people can be heard and feel loved by not giving quick answers, snap judgments or simple fixes.

Value #4: Confidentiality

I will keep anything that is shared within the group confidential.

Value #5: Conflict Resolution

I will bring concerns to the attention of the facilitator.

Value #6: Spiritual Health

I give select group members permission to speak into my life, as needed, to help me live a healthy, balanced spiritual life that is pleasing to God.

Each woman is asked to sign two copies. One she gives to me, and the other she keeps in front of her Bible study materials. These values help group leaders stay accountable while mentoring each other and providing a place of growth for all members.

Maria Eglisson has a passion to share the hope she has in Christ to women. She serves at First Baptist Church in Brandon, Manitoba, Canada where she encourages women to discover, develop and use the gifts that God has given them by offering workshops & training seminars.
